“From lacking computers to physical space, low-income students are at a disadvantage in online learning.” — Anna North, Vox Through our COVID-19 Resiliency Grants, Close the Gap is bridging the widening #digitaldivide that disproportionately impact low-income communities during this pandemic. This year, we awarded over $2,100 in Chromebooks and school supplies to empower low-income students with distance learning. I'm incredibly pleased we were able to provide four new Chromebooks to students like Madison, Alan, Briana, and Mercedes. We received over 700+ applications asking for a range of school supplies like laptops to everyday essentials such as food/snacks. Our work stop doesn't end here. We're looking to continue this program again next year to help more low-income students bridge the digital divide.
