China has emerged as the largest market for luxury goods in the world. My colleague Daniel Zipser and his team recently conducted an exhaustive study of this large and dynamic market, "China Luxury Report 2019: How young Chinese consumers are reshaping global luxury." Here's a short video with some highlights from their research, and a few nuggets from the report: **China delivered more than half the global growth in luxury spending between 2012–18, and is expected to deliver 65 percent of the world’s additional spending heading into 2025. **In 2018, Chinese consumers at home and abroad spent 770 billion RMB ($115 billion) on luxury items—equivalent to a third of the global spend—with each luxury-consuming household spending an average of 80,000 RMB per year. **Their outlay is set to almost double to 1.2 trillion RMB by 2025, when 40 percent of the world’s spending on luxury goods will be conducted by Chinese consumers.
