You get the feeling public policy these days isn’t set by politicians with logic or principles or least of all a VISION, but as a series of test and learns. You create some policies, leak them to the press, see how they report them on social media and see what the population thinks of them, then tweak accordingly. You enact these policies and change things as they go based on how the masses feel about them and what drives popularity. It’s a bizzare state of affairs. Rewards only shortermism in an era of simplistic media narratives. I’m totally fine with changes as facts change, the way U turns are reported as such in the press is awful.
