It's quite strange that people still insist of talking about the Gartner Hype Cycle, as if it's actually something that is remotely accurate or helpful. It's not the case that it's inaccurate or sometimes wrong, it's just not remotely true or helpful or has really ever once mapped a close path to reality. The names of tech on it are so vague as to be useless. The names virtually always drop off from one year to the next. And most transformative technology hasn't ever appeared on it. …see more
