I'm a little surprised more people aren't talking about why the newly launched Kitchen app is such a brilliant move by the Food Network . Here's how they are transcending their status as a mere TV channel by adopting bits of OTT and eCommerce: 1/ A Netflix -like (Netflix when it was aggregated content) repository of all Food Network Cooking shows available anytime you want. 2/ MasterClass -like catalog of cooking lessons from Food Network stars, chefs, etc. 3/ Peloton Interactive -like live classes that allow you to cook along live and ask questions. 4/ You can use the app on voice devices from Amazon for hands-free cooking (as someone who cooks, I can tell you this will be amazingly helpful when trying to follow a recipe). 5/ Integration with Amazon so you can get all of the ingredients delivered.
