Back around 2004, we were in search of a typeface that would best match the brand attributes of Netflix. I proposed Gotham and my cohort on the product side, Russ Chaney , agreed. It worked well for a while but as we moved into streaming and onto smaller screens it became problematic. Not only was it too wide but the licensing of it for use on millions of devices was getting expensive. Just before I left we discussed having a font made but the cost was deemed too prohibitive at the time (and we had no in-house fontography capabilities). Glad to see Noah Nathan was able to tackle it with a solid solution.
