Let’s talk about it! I haven’t always been the biggest Kanye fan, and I’ll be the first to admit I don’t always agree with his political opinions. BUT! The way America has crucified this man as he’s attempted to turn his life around baffles me. I had a chance to attend Sunday Service, and I’ve never felt so loved and so accepted. The message of his new album? Love yourself. Love others. Stand up for what you believe in. And be the best version of yourself, unapologetically. How can I be mad at that? As someone who identifies as Christian, I’ve struggled to reconcile my faith with the judgmental, unforgiving and often downright hypocritical attitudes we often have towards others. I’m not perfect. If all of you knew my story and my past, you might cancel me too. No matter what mistakes we’ve made, or what terrible things we’ve said and done, we’re all God’s children. We’re not defined by our past, or our mistakes. That’s what #grace is! Newsflash: Reconciliation requires a willingness to reconcile, and cancel culture leaves no room for growth, change or humanity.
