Habit and Discipline: Borrrring—But... No one likes to do things that are hard or uncomfortable or not fun! I mean, who likes to dental floss or diet? I get it. But people who are able to think beyond ‘the here-and-now’ do it all the time. They can put off something they want ‘now’ because they can think about ‘later.’ Often when I hear people talk about why they quit smoking or lost a lot of weight, it’s often because that person is thinking about being alive to see their child’s graduation, or because they have a personal goal of climbing a mountain or running a 10K. Wearing a mask is absolutely the same: doing something uncomfortable ‘now’ for some benefit that accrues ‘later...’ My advice? Pick a goal that is in the future and adjust your behavior to ensure you and your loved ones are alive and well to realize it...
