On this #InternationalDayOfTheGirl2020 , I dream of the day when it is safe to travel again, so I can meet more little girls like the ones I encountered during my years in East Africa. They reminded of myself when I was young...quiet, constrained by the boundaries of poverty, her parents’ religion and dismissed by the larger society. I knew them so well, and I guess I wanted them to see that it was possible to travel far and wide, to have a career...to dream big. So to all the little girls in the world who start life with no material things, just like I did, I’m here to tell you that there are riches beyond measure locked in your mind.
