Why America Needs The World Health Organization This might fall under the category of ‘boring but important,—‘ not every thing can be fun-and-games... The World Health Organization (WHO), founded in 1948, has a broad mandate to “act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work” within the United Nations system. It is made of 1948. Sound like something we need right about now? When we have a Global Pandemic? YES is the answer. Yes. But the US Government is cutting funding and America is the largest funder. This is like if you fired your doctor because he gave you bad news. Sure, it happens but not to people who are critical thinkers and want to succeed. But this administration—and its talking heads— are pointing fingers, trying to blame them for—well, does it matter? Claims of slow response, failure to mobilize resources, failure to perceive the deadly impact of this global disease sounds like a complaint against this administration, not WHO. We need all the smart scientists, doctors and data now more than ever. In fact everyone is counting on them to develop vaccines and medications. We certainly are not looking to Talking Heads to develop these drugs and tests. Keep funding WHO. Otherwise we are lighting a match to burn down our own homes.
