UNICEF ’s “State Of The World's Children" report was released today, and this year's theme is "Children, Food and Nutrition." I'm happy to see this focus. Too often, we only think of childhood and global nutrition combined in terms of hunger and stunting, which are still serious problems. But we need a more holistic view of the role of food in our children's lives. Kids in the world's richest countries may have access to plenty of food, but how much of it is processed and of little nutritional value? Food should be fuel for healthy development, but too much of the wrong stuff can be as bad as too little food.
