You really need to read this information from UNICEF about who has access to safe, clean #water and #sanitation - and the shocking number of people worldwide who still don’t. Tremendous progress has been made in recent decades, but more than a billion people in the world still don’t live near a safe water source. They still don’t have access to a toilet, which means they’re still vulnerable to diseases related to poor hygiene like diarrhea, schistosomiasis and trachoma. Every time I swallow a sip of cool, clean water, I remember those who would give anything to have it. Every time I shower, I think of all the babies and children who would joyfully splash around in the water raining down on me, and appreciate being able to enjoy it without getting violently ill. We must stop taking these things for granted, and collectively work to ensure that more people have access to safe, clean water.
