New figures released by the World Health Organization show that the number of people at risk of #trachoma , the world's leading infectious cause of blindness, has been reduced by 91 per cent since 2002. The announcement was made during the annual meeting of the #WHO Alliance for GET2020 in Maputo this week. 17 years ago, 1.5 billion people were estimated to be at risk of the #neglectedtropicaldisease trachoma. New figures show 142 million people are at risk today. No one should go blind needlessly from trachoma.
