According to the Georgetown University, the number of uninsured children increased by more than 400,000 and is due in large part to policies championed by the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress. Everyone—and I mean everyone—says ‘Children are our future.’ And it is often the rallying cry at the beginning of many debates and protests. Take education or climate change or infrastructure—When politicians or parents or policy makers talk on these subjects the reasons ‘why’ we should make changes and improvements is for our kids and grand kids. So how does it make any sense to then to allow these very same kids to go without proper medicine, and doctors visits and immunizations and medical check-ups? How are they to live their best lives and ensure our ongoing success if they are malnourished, or ill from childhood disease?
