Apparently, Nike ’s slogan “Just Do It” extends only up until the point you get pregnant, and then you have to “just hide it” — or do it on your own dime. I don’t know why I was surprised to read Olympic athlete Alysia Montano’s account of rampant #genderbaseddiscrimination from the athletics corporation. You can read the details below, but her story has completely erased my naïveté about corporate campaigns designed specifically to give companies like Nike credibility around urgent social issues. Their bottom line ALWAYS ends at the bank, and there is no budget line for pregnancy and motherhood, apparently. Kudos to Montano for her courage in speaking out.
