Back to Work Blues? It’s a Real Thing. It’s Monday morning and Summer is over...You've got months before it’s Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and Surprise!, you are feeling cranky. Doctors and mental health workers don't officially have a name for this. There's nothing specific in the official manual of mental disorders. But the Twitterverse calls your sadness #backtoworkblues or #holidayblues . Kids get it too. You know the feelings—cranky, uninspired by a million emails, unmotivated to deal with trivial (or big) work assessments, uninterested in petty complaints by co-workers and all you want to do is return to your summer lounge chair! What to do? First off, know that transitions between play and work are rough, so give yourself a little breathing room to be OK with it being a bit tough for a period. Consider booking another short getaway you can look forward to, ease back into work, add something new into your life like a cooking class or new exercise. Remember, there’s always next summer to plan for!
