So excited to be in Washington, DC preparing for the inaugural Mayor Muriel Bowser Maternal and #InfantHealth Summit, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 12. The event will bring together mayors, healthcare experts, policymakers and community members, and will update attendees about trends and initiatives in #maternalhealth that are under way in DC. As a journalist, a highlight for me will be the panel led by Mayor Bowser featuring six African American women mayors, including Gary, Indiana’s Karen Freeman-Wilson (who’s also 1st Vice President of the National League of Cities ), New Haven, Connecticut’s Toni Harp and the #QueenCity ’s very own Vi Lyles , from the City of Charlotte .
