I’ve passed through #Detroit Metro Airport 2 or 3 dozen times since September of 1994, when I moved from Motown to Washington, D.C. I even spent 7 hours in the Immigration line here after the flight with the Underwear Bomber landed from Amsterdam just ahead of my flight on Christmas Day 2009. But I haven’t spent any time in The D since I left. And now I’m headed to the RenCen and #NABJ2018 , and it’s definitely a “Full Circle Moment.” Detroit was where I found my depth as a reporter and claimed my voice as a writer. It’s also where I had some of the best editors—and made some of the best friends—of my life.
