Why does the international media so often feel the need to frame such a complicated, multifaceted geopolitical relationship in such simplistic, binary terms? It's interesting because this is phenomenon that one doesn't see anywhere near as much in the African and Chinese press. For outsiders looking in though, it's totally different and a trend that is largely unique to China. After all, Germany is one of Africa's largest investors but one never sees these kinds of polemic headlines, same with the US, France and Brazil among others.
