Yup-it’s True Whether We Like It Or Not: Money in Healthcare Lead to Profits Over Patients Sorry to sound like I’m a “one trick pony,” but I’m not the one making the news. Studies by scientists at the University of North Carolina, Yale University, the George Washington University and Harvard Medical School, among others, show that when doctors are paid by pharmaceutical companies, they're more likely to prescribe drugs made by those companies. Of course many-if not most-clinicians are ethical and professional which means they have to work even harder to avoid being sucked into poor decision making due to perverse incentives from pharmaceutical companies and productivity/earning requirements within their own medical group....but it’s a struggle.
