Vindicated! Paleo...Shmaleo. Here’s to Bread! For years I’ve expressed my utter disregard for those friends of mine who claim they believe in the ‘paleo diet’ as an actual (historically accurate) food diet. I’ve always said it’s a fad diet and that people who choose to be on this diet should just admit to it. And like all fads, it’s made-up to promote some sort of mindset or ‘evolved’ eating approach. Which is why a friend of mine (who has no allergies or sensitivity to any food products) won’t eat any kind of bread, grain, legumes, dairy, sugar or any number of other things. (Meanwhile coconut and cow are fine...) I’ve tried explaining to this friend that none of the foods she is eating today were even around 10,000 years ago and not to mention that the average lifespan back then was 45, so that I’m not really sure why we are eager to reproduce that diet. Anyway, as a lover of bread, I was tickled pink to read this article about how bread is in fact ‘paleo.’ Does that mean all those paleo books need to be re-written??? Selected Excerpt: “As a final note, this study reminds us, yet again, that the so-called Paleo Diet isn’t an actual thing, or at the very least, not a coherent, unified diet that existed across multiple populations of paleolithic peoples.” …see more
