I Am Not Different Than You Who doesn’t know about the boys who were trapped in the cave? It’s a funny thing—this is a story that opened the Evening News shows, and has been part of Americans daily talk news over the last two weeks. We’ve cheered for them, prayed for them, rooted for them. We gravitate towards stories that are suspenseful and hopeful—in our collective hearts we want everyone to ‘win,’ especially when it comes to the underdog, like these young boys appeared to be. (Who wouldn’t be an underdog trapped in a cave, two miles from freedom?) During their battle for survival, we learned that those boys are like our young ones: Sweet, resilient and hopeful. It reminds us that the human spirit to love others and our capacity to care about each other is something we all have in common regardless of where we live, the country we call home or the color of our skin.
