We’ve got an antibiotic! Got a laceration? We’ve got sutures. All great stuff for the body. But the mind requires a different sort of medical model—one that includes enough resources (and humanity) to have time to evaluate, diagnosis and treat. And unlike physical ailments that can be treated with sutures or antibiotics, these patients need a holistic approach which often includes stable housing, good counseling and a network of support.
