When it comes to managing digital distractions, the least helpful thing we can do is make excuses. When people talk about tech overuse, they talk about how human brains have been hardwired the same way for thousands of years. They claim that large Silicon Valley companies use our psychology against us to keep us engaged and distracted. Nonsense. There are all kinds of things we learn to adapt to. It’s called growing up. Plenty of feelings like jealousy or anger are natural parts of psychology, but you know what? We’re expected to learn how to manage those feelings. We have to adapt and adopt. Adapt our behavior and adopt new technologies to fix the problems of the last generation of technology.
