Would you have thought that a mixed reality device could have a role in protecting the healthcare staff from exposure to COVID? I haven't. And now a study in JMIR looked into what happens if the staff starts using it not only as a sort of shield but also as a telemedicine tool, which makes in-person visits less frequent. "This technology-led pilot project has demonstrated that wearable MR devices may have a role to play in protecting staff and reducing PPE use during a pandemic response. The use of the HoloLens2 led to an 83.1% reduction in PPE use and a 51.5% reduction in the time spent by clinical staff in high-risk areas."
