If there's one thing I do as a futurist, it's thinking about the future. As for the future of my presentations and meetings, I settled for virtual at least until Summer 2021. If you took part in Zoom meetings and webinars, you might have realized that switching to virtual has its difficulties and annoyances, with a lot of muddling and amateurism - to say the least of it. To avoid this, we have to learn an entirely new profession (that extremely few do): of online streamers. As I've studied streamers for this purpose for months now, I've drawn enough lessons for an article about what medical events could learn from them (it's coming next week). Of about 20 virtual presentations by now, I concluded with delight that my possibilities for delivering my messages have multiplied! I can merge the potentials in YouTube videos, streams and keynotes at the same time: enhance the show with new graphics, switch between shots for emphasis and show what's otherwise not visible. Maybe I'll feel more anxious and defenseless before I present in person for the first time.
