Seven years ago... I self-published my first book which I wrote on maternity leave. Early on, I signed a book deal but as soon as the publisher started wanting to change elements I thought were important, I knew I had to stay with my gut and try self-publishing. I believed that if I was going to be spending time away from my baby in order to help tell the stories of these founders, then it had to be done in a way I truly believed in or the sacrifice would not be worth it. Three years later, I wrote another book - Female Innovators at Work - and published through a traditional publisher. I still believe the self-publishing route was a much better way to go for a myriad of reasons which I’m happy to share if it’s useful to you.
