I received the results of my genetic test with Atlas Biomed. I thought I'd share all the results piece by piece here before publishing the big review on medicalfuturist.com . Part I. Disease risks They analyzed a lot of polymorphisms in my DNA that have been associated with disease risks. I discussed that with their genetic counselor and she also made it clear that it matters which studies a certain company chooses to base their estimations on. In my case, I have high risk for three conditions (coronary heart disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease). I've seen these in other genetic tests before but my high melanoma risk was not included in the report as they don't check for polymorphisms in cancer. The "average risk" conditions I have are quite common across populations. Regarding hereditary diseases, I don't carry any of the about 200 conditions they check for. It doesn't mean it's a 100% I don't carry those gene variants but there is a big chance for that. To check for a specific condition, I'd need a more detailed genetic test. Conclusion: to discuss the prevention plan about coronary heart disease with my GP. In the next posts, I'd describe my nutrition, sports and personal traits & my microbiome analysis. #genetics #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine …see more
