During Tuesday’s two-hours-long session, most of the lawmakers seemed far less concerned with the technology than with Facebook and the series of scandals (which should also be a key issue on the table) around the company in recent years. Policy-makers must inevitably have a profound knowledge of new technologies so they can make the best decisions when it comes to regulating Libra or when considering complex ethical issues regarding the 3D printing of synthetic tissues, autonomous surgical robots or the use of artificial intelligence in diagnostics.
