There is a book written by a historian that focuses on technological progress, the views of famous futurists on that and science fiction. Yes, it does sound like the perfect book written exactly for my taste. It's incredibly detailed and it was amazing to learn about how people in the past looked at the future, what awful and accurate predictions they made and why it makes no sense to keep on making blind predictions today. Instead, we should offer scenarios people can choose from and understand that it depends on them where we go from here.
