Here is a cautionary tale about science journalism. An interesting study came out about a neural network designed to predict the side effects of drug combinations.  KurzweilAI used the term deep-learning while Futurity wrote that "A.I. predicts side effects for millions of drug combos". The study itself didn't mention neither A.I. nor deep learning.
