See this new article on Princeton and women in leadership. I think it re-hashes what we know (mentoring matters) and misses culture change and self reflection. My comment follows link: https://lnkd.in/dTZf4wG I am struck by the total focus on mentoring for women; this is important to be sure and it is not new. What is striking is that there is almost no mention of institutional culture and the need to change that. How important is it to create an environment in which women can thrive as leaders. Were I to institute a look-see at Princeton, I would look at culture first -- what is it in the culture that enables men to seek and thrive in leadership posts. Hard to look inward and admit that there may be cultural biases and impacts and auras. Hard to face a male dominated past and current culture. Hard to be honest about what is inhibiting success. Mentoring matters for real. But, it is not enough. No indeed. …see more
