What President Trump has is an alternative perception of crowd size; perception can become someone's reality. So, the term that is better is "alternative perception". Now perception can be or become reality. Sometimes, perception is what matters (I feel hurt by you or I am offended). But often, reality needs to be recognized, reified and verified.
