You'll have noticed (or maybe you haven't) that I have been unusually quiet of late on LinkedIn. That's because 10 months ago I started working at The Verge . I have never worked as hard in my life, but nor have I ever loved a job as much. Every day is insane, but the last couple of months have been especially bonkers as we've been working on a massive brand refresh and complete redesign of the site. Today it finally went live and I couldn't be more proud: Welcome to The Verge 3.0 …see more
This is an extremely powerful and important post. So many men in their late 40's and early 50's are asking themselves the question, "How did I end up here?"
The absence of a concession by Trump is but one of the difficult issues our students need to process and understand. I just published a free download for educators on how to discuss the election in a non-partisan way. Once the concession issues are unfolded and addressed, I will add more to the list of teaching tools. I have also recognized that in a world of online learning, some of my books need to be made available as PDFs. That now includes the Tongue Twister book and the Lady Lucy Laugh Giraffe book, both of which are trauma responsive. They can be found at https://lnkd.in/eaWQeJ6 . In terms of resources, there is also a Trauma Toolbox How To Guide and The Feeling Alphabet Activity Set, also available at a reasonable price on my website. Finally, I am working on a Holiday Kit -- a type of trauma responsive bag that will help children and families navigate the inevitable changes of the coming holiday season (no Santa's lap; no in person caroling in close proximity. Please access these resources. Our children need them -- the amount of trauma is real and not declining. …see more
Google is trying to reset expectations? It's too late for that. The fact is that we do have technologies that can solve many of humanity's problems and that we choose not to use them is an ethical and moral issue that will be soon be considered repugnant. In the same way slavery became morally indefensible and was banned, so will poverty. We have the technologies to provide everyone with safe places to live, to go to school, to eat safe food, drink safe water and be safe from violence. Why would we choose not to?! Capitalism will change to profit from abundance instead of scarcity. https://lnkd.in/eACvUSE …see more
As COVID ramps up and schools close, this list of books might be very beneficial to teachers and families. Watch for another list shortly on family engagement activity books that help ameliorate trauma symptomology.

We are all struggling (OK, most of us) with stress and anxiety and even trauma. That is true for both adults and children. That is why I created Trauma Toolboxes. And, I wrote a guide so that others can create and use them too. Try it and share what you think. They work, adapted of course, for children and adults alike; they can be tailored to meet needs, differing demographics, different contexts, different community norms. Share the link too. https://lnkd.in/eTsvm8C …see more
