I recently offered some tips to help you be a more efficient remote worker, like creating a workspace. What I forgot to mention is that once you do this, you need to remind yourself to get up and walk around at least once per hour.
‪the crypto-consumer society has been reduced to an exchange of signs where buyers identify with the perceived properties of each token instead of the real economic value derived from the use of each token. ‬
the business of venture capital will not be the same in the future. the same value add will remain, but how it is deployed will be radically different.

Back in 2005, Walmart eCommerce bowed out of the DVD-by-mail rental space Netflix created. Likewise, JPMorgan Chase & Co. shutting down their Finn app demonstrates again how just because a bigger competitor has more resources, they are not guaranteed to get things right. #jpmorganchase #banking #fintech #walmart #netflix #startups …see more

I used to think that my keynote travel routes such as “Osaka-Chicago-Vienna-Budapest” were a logistical challenge. But actually what we’re facing currently with The Medical Futurist team is the truly unprecedented challenge: I get keynote invites with 2 weeks to prepare for (usually it’s half a year), and I get to do 3-4 times more virtual presentations than live (and so we make them happen!) And as much as I’m thankful for our new studio, I’m so looking forward to my first live keynote I got invited to: Hello Athens in August! (after getting vaccinated of course). #themedicalfuturist #digitalhealth #future #healthcare #medicine #technology #speaker #keynote #speakerlife …see more

While not surprising, it is interesting to read that Google "paid a 71% premium over the stock price" since it's my understanding that it's ~60% off the IPO price. It will be interesting to see how many current Fitbit customers move to Google. There should be no doubt, after all, that much like Nest, this will be absorbed as part of Google. #acquisitions #google #fitbit #brandstrategy …see more

An interesting report on what the next normal will look like was published by McKinsey & Company . The overall message of 'get better at understanding DTC and price sensitivity' is solid in my opinion. The one thing I take issue with is the use of the phrase "brand purpose." It implies that all brands need to be cause-driven. They don't. What brands actually need is a clear understanding of what role they play in consumers' lives. One that is viewed through the lens of next order benefits. During this crisis, those who have that clarity have stood in stark contrast with those that don't. Take Anheuser-Busch InBev 's Michelob Ultra. Yes, they make and sell light beer. But by being able to understand the next order benefits of their brand, they're able to respond with an initiative and advertising like this. And it has nothing to do with "brand purpose" and everything to do with understanding what role their brand plays in their customers' lives. Now, more than ever, consumers are going to expect clarity and honesty about what a brand is. Forcing "brand purpose" into a company that is not already purpose-driven runs in the opposite direction. #brand #brandpositioning #brand #brandstrategy #marketing #advertising #mickinsey #abibev #coronavirus #covid19 #brandpurpose …see more
