Just for fun, here is a list of buzzwords, biz speak, and hipster droppings that should be banned from every business meeting forevermore. Does the following sound familiar?

Friends, an editor asked me an interesting question, I'd love your help to answer it. "What are the hottest demographic segments and vertical markets? What B2B segments/markets do you think have the most opportunities for marketers right now? For example, education? Healthcare? High Tech? Education? Others?" Feel free to message me or email kmartell32@gmail.com in the next day or so.
Isn't today #VeteransDay2018 ? I'm wondering why 2 key online publications on #highered didn't post a single article (best as I can see) on #Veterans , #VeteranStudents and #GIBill ? Wouldn't today be a good day 4 that? Just saying. @insidehighered @chronicle. What other publications missed the opportunity? It isn't too late -- Veterans Day continues til midnight! …see more
From Mackenzie Newcomb “For those of us who care deeply about the intersection of fashion and it’s environmental and societal impact, it’s deeply discouraging that so many influencers not only refuse to speak out against fast fashion, but continue to promote it. The reality is, fast fashion companies exploit factory workers. The fashion industry emits more carbon every year than international flights and maritime shipping combined.” …see more
"Healthcare becomes an amazingly perfect system. Healthcare is mind-blowing, we have technological sublime: robot companions, robot dispensers, 3D printing, transplantations and bioprinters, genomic data, algorithms, A.I., – healthcare is state-of-the-art and amazing.” It might come as a surprise, but for me this is actually a nightmare scenario. My alma mater Smith is failing its students. The college is not alone. Here’s why: The Smith president sent an email describing with pride their culture of care in reopening. It basically described detailed approaches to physical safety with a couple other things tossed in including reference to race initiatives. Where oh where was any reference to psychological wellbeing of students and trauma they have experienced of late? Shouldn’t they include trauma responsiveness in any proposal related to care? Are Smithies immune somehow from trauma? Where is the effort to add mental health professionals to handle primary, secondary and vicarious trauma? Staff and faculty training? A culture of care cannot ignore mental health. Smith and other institutions are failing to understand how returning to campus will feel amidst a pandemic, racial tension, economic uncertainty, confusion and strife, political division, familial dysfunction (latter happens in elites too). Smith has, yet again, missed the boat. It’s a boat that’s not hard to see. Yipes. …see more
