Consider this piece that made (makes) my blood boil. Another professor who thinks creating safety and self esteem in students is coddling. Spare me. Help us. And how can WSJ publish this? Comments welcomed.

Worthy read. Showcases power of education -- for the good and bad. And, shows the pain of change. Some groups disown non-believers -- Scientologists, Amish, Mormons, Orthodox Jews. Sad that we can't enable folks to break bread together. Ponder all this in today's political world in US. The candidates didn't shake hands at the last debate. One threatens to jail another. One abuses women according to accounts of many credible women. How do we educate for the good and how do we root out education filled with venom and hate and distrust of others? …see more

This is why it is important to seek more signal, less noise. Despite the furor and the seeming ubiquity of #deletefacebook, the bulk of us are unlikely to stop using social media. That doesn't let Facebook  off the hook of how it allows data to be used by third parties but it certainly lessens the actual pressure they face. …see more

Please read and re-read this article (bravo to the men who participated) and respond to the notion I was told by one publication that the "Kavanaugh" issues are no longer a news peg. I beg to differ. These are issues affecting many, including in our schools, our colleges, our workplaces -- as students, teachers, faculty, staff, workers, administrators. These issues are in a pot that is still cooking on a stove. For sure and for real. The question, raised in the 5 part series I wrote on this, is how we can help schools, colleges and workplaces help their students. See: InsideHigherEd (suggesting pop-up courses); New England Journal of Higher Ed (suggesting integration of issues/substance/knowledge into existing classes and hypervigilance); Forest of the Rain Productions and LinkedIn (pop-up courses for K-12), University Business (strategies for workplaces and culture shifts -- forthcoming), and a to be placed piece on how elite private schools can change their culture apropos of the "Kavanaugh" debacle. …see more

If you haven’t seen #themorningshow on Apple TV, they do an exceptional job of capturing the complexity of the “Me Too” movement from a raw, honest place. So often, people who have experienced sexual assault suffer in silence. There’s nothing wrong with allowing yourself to express grief. In fact - when done in community, it’s actually a crucial part of the healing process. You can read my full review on TV Fanatic. …see more

"If you believe that every issue is black and white, then you, my friend, are colorblind. You are not a solution; you are part of the problem. Your insistence on viewing complicated issues through a limiting lens is destructive and unnecessarily polarizing. Sometimes things are complicated. Sometimes there are no easy answers. It is not until we recognize the gray areas that we will be able to effectively deal with the complexities of the human existence." - What are your thoughts on this? …see more
