Another interesting read from The Hustle . This one is about how Alex Tew went from trying to duplicate his first "get rich quick scheme that actually worked" to finding even greater success by stepping back and reflecting.
While giving keynotes, I love meeting people, move them out of their comfort zones and get challenged by amazing questions. These are just some of the perks of being a keynote speaker besides visiting beautiful places. Having to redesign a redesign points to the fact that Snapchat, Inc. didn't do consumer research in advance. A/B testing gives you "A" best results but necessarily "THE" best results. It's a great lesson for companies. Use in-person research up front to get direction - find the glaring issues or see if something is going to be DOA - then A/B test. …see more
It would be easy to read the headline "Uber adds 911 button" and get snarky but Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is leading the company in the right direction. Yes, all of this should have been done long ago but that doesn't take away from it being done now. Does this get their brand out of purgatory? Not by a long shot but it's a good start. …see more
Interesting write up from Miloš Milosavljević on how removing the shade lets others' talents come to the fore. It's almost like the flip side of "don't hire brilliant jerks" - don't hire a singular hero at the cost of what the team can bring.

Y'all know I love a good list. There are some good practical tips here, but it's notable that two - possibly even three - of them deal directly with a woman's communication style: Let your voice be heard, and Speak with confidence.
If you're the type of DevOps engineer that likes to work in a tip of the spear technology environment with great people, an awesome manager ( Matt Bond ), and a terrific company (Amazon) this public service announcement is for you.
