Unpopular opinion: Facebook ’s decision to “parent-brand” Instagram , which seems ill-advised at best from a brand standpoint, won’t have a significantly negative impact long-term. Hear me out. Will some people leave? Yep. But at this point you fall into one of two camps. Those who know Instagram is owned by Facebook and those who don’t. My guess is that the latter group is significantly smaller and shrinking (would love to see research on this actually). So if you already know and still don’t a lot of value in the UX of Instagram, having that “by Facebook” added probably isn’t going to get you to stop using it.
