What is big tech doing to handle the spread of coronavirus? I spoke with Kerry Drew and Bianca Peters on Fox 5 New York's Good Day about it.

Rather than making 2021 a massive leap forward, how about acknowledging how difficult 2020 was. And then taking a nap.
Yesterday, I got to speak with Botkeeper Founder and CEO (and my boss!) Enrico Palmerino about entrepreneurship and the road to Botkeeper. He said that "the nice thing about not being an accountant is that I didn't have a preconceived notion of how things should be done. I went into it with a clean slate and with an obsession for trying to do as little manual bookkeeping as possible." Listen to the recording below for the insider's view of starting and growing a successful company, and raising capital virtually during a pandemic! https://lnkd.in/ewEuHVJ #accounting #accountants #CPAs #CPAfirm #RadicalCPA #CPALove #accountantlove #accountingtech #botkeeping #botkeeperfordummies …see more
So I wanted to share several things -- seemingly different but related. The Cookery in Shirlington (Arlington) VA is having an event June 1 starting at noon in their remarkable cooking/food store for International Children's Day. And, they will be making a donation to Save the Children. I will be doing a book reading and signing at this event -- with two of my newest children's books. There will be food, fun and activities. One of the goals is to enable children to appreciate the fun that can come from engaged reading and the books are meant to achieve that. Also, given the starvation and deaths of children across the globe, it is worth pausing and reflecting on what we can do to improve the lives of the next generation -- near and far. There is homelessness and food scarcity in many areas -- hidden and not so hidden poverty and a deep inequality for children in education too. That gets me to my next point: I will be at Molly Stark School in VT (which is I believe close to 100% free and reduced lunch) on June 3 to read and work with children. I will be sharing one of the new books and helping kids appreciate the value of words and reading. And, it is key to curb summer melt causing low income kids to fall behind while their wealthier peers progress ahead. Come join us. …see more
Doesn't this idea make sense? How do you get institutions (all 6000 + of them to coordinate and achieve consensus? Is it that hard??????
Enjoy this fast-paced conversation (maybe because I set it at 1.3 speed) with Brené Brown and Anne McElvoy of "The Economist" in which she confesses that although she believes in the benefits, meditation makes her "stabby." For Brené Brown meditation is like chastity was for St. Augustine: "Grant me chastity...but not yet." …see more

I am delighted to be presenting at the Proctor Institute at Rutgers University on January 26th. In anticipation of this event, this podcast was created (listen on Spotify or SoundCloud). https://lnkd.in/ep6NMwe . A special thank-you to the amazing people at the Institute who have made this event (and the Podcast and the to be released Research Essay) a reality: Professor Marybeth Gasman, Brandy Jones and Natalie Passov. Sign up and join the event. I look forward to sharing ideas on "Trauma as an Invisible Backpack" with you all. …see more

Maybe the best thing you can do today is reach out to people who may be at risk, or alone, or just lonely. As sad and scary as all of this is, you can brighten someone’s day by spending your time on them. It’s the best give you can give.
Please read this -- not once, not twice but three times. Sends shudders up my spine. What about yours?
Happy new year one and all xx For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again. F. Scott Fitzgerald …see more
Rather than, "So, what do you do?" that limits the conversation to a work context, relationship expert David Burkus recommends these 8 questions to find common ground and establish rapport...feel free to add to the list.
This is a great read and helpful guide to inclusive language and leadership behavior. “The ability of leaders to respectfully address multiple points of view (even if they may not agree) builds trust by indicating that they value and consider more than one perspective in the way they approach business decisions. Employees, in turn, feel their experiences and perspectives are heard and valued and are more likely to respect and value those of their peers and colleagues.” …see more
