"I have an example that I use in one of our workshops for portfolio companies where I ask the participants to list all the ways they can make $10 by the end of the day. Once they do that, I ask them which of the ideas can make $100 million. The answer, as you might expect, is always, “none of them." My point is that you can’t make $100 million with a $10 vision. This should be interesting to see the take rate of Walmart 's new Amazon Prime-like subscription when it launches on September 15th. I suspect that it will be pretty big as they will offer similar benefits like free grocery delivery but also add in things like cheaper gasoline. It is interesting to see how Johnson & Johnson Health and Wellness Solutions, Inc. 's reaction to a shift in consumer desires allowed other brands like California Baby and Evereden to get a foothold in the space. Sure, J & J has done consumer research and adjusted their packaging and formulas, which is good. But they might be missing the direct-to-consumer shift in how people relate to brands that those changes don't address.
