I love the idea of car companies increasing value post-purchase a la Tesla . It increases brand affinity and builds desire in those who may be interested in buying. The coming wave of apps and bots based on open data will likely be much cheaper or free rendering the notion of BMW charging that much a month for the same thing a bit odd and potentially brand damaging. As Amelia Dalgaard pointed out in the comments, franchise laws may be playing a role which hints at the bigger issue - that the core business model of how cars are sold may be problematic to innovation. …see more

App creators, this free animation tool that ties into AfterEffects so you can easily add animations to to your app seems great. Of course, you need to make sure that cute animations/visual guides are on-brand. For example, if I saw a little bouncy animation in, say, an "in case of emergency app", that might actually erode trust. …see more

Jenny Johannesson excellently highlights a problem I've been concerned about for while now. Trend jumping when it comes to design. While the advent of companies like Squarespace and Wix.com make it easier than ever to create a website (which is a good thing), it is still important to remember that brand is the sum total of everything a company does and how it interacts with the world.
