SkinVision issued a study, in which it proves the usefulness of its app with good enough evidence: that it can monitor skin lesions and point out those that a dermatologist should check fairly well. Fairly well: the paper passed peer reviews, their data proves the tool's accuracy. But, it was SkinVision itself that sponsored the study. I just received a contact form asking my opinion about a study with similar features. It was about a VR company's product, and sponsored by the same VR company. I'm a bit torn: more and more companies are publishing studies that meet scientific standards, but were sponsored by the same company. Probably without them, these studies wouldn't even exist. But this way, those are not independent studies. What's your view in this dilemma? What should these companies do if they wanted to provide evidence but not in a sponsored study? #ScientificStudy #MedicalResearch #DermatologyResearch #ResearchEthics #DigitalHealth
