Back in the summer of 1984, I once shared an elevator with Katharine Graham, during my internship at The Washington Post . Sadly, I was rendered mute with awe, so I didn't capitalize on what could have been the "Elevator Pitch" to end all elevator pitches. But as I noted in this LinkedIn post from October 2014 --> http://bit.ly/2De1CPa , having Ben Bradlee as a journalism mentor changed my life. That's why I'm eager to see the new movie "The Post," because the entire world needs a reminder that ethical, fearless journalism is the last defense against tyranny and injustice. And as Meg Heckman of Northeastern University articulates in this terrific USA TODAY column, we need to see more images of strong women in newsrooms. If I could turn back time and unglue my tongue from the back of my throat, I would use my elevator pitch opportunity to thank Katharine Graham for her strength and courage.
