I will never forget September 11, 2001. I won't forget the shock of watching two airplanes fly into the world trade center and the horror of those towers tumbling to the ground, knowing there were precious lives being lost, 2977 to be exact and thousands more injured. I also won't forget how united we felt as a nation as I saw American flags on cars, homes and businesses. The way we looked at one another even though we may have been strangers, and showed shared grief in a glance. We felt sorrow and fear together and we were united in fiercely defending our nation, our freedom, from anyone who dare attack it. I have thought a great deal about that today and how divided we are now. I wonder what the date will be that we will memorialize in future years as the final day an American died of Covid 19. I wish we were attacking this adversary as a united front and coming together rather than it pulling us apart. Where is our empathy for those among us who are physically at risk, where is our sense of duty to protect our neighbor and other members of our community? Where is our ability to understand there is much we still don't know and not knowing is not dependent on our party affiliation. I will never forget what we lost on 9/11 or who we are capable of being. #america #compassion
