“We keep your private information more private than Brand X.” is a marketing strategy I expect to see a lot in 2020.
I just was listening to the news and there was another assault by someone working in a school on a student. What school worker bodyslams a child? I write about trauma. I usually focus on trauma that impacts students that occurs OUTSIDE the school or by an intruder/shooter into a school. I have not focused -- until now -- on trauma within the school caused by school personnel. Yes, I have observed teachers/professors causing non-physical trauma through poor pedagogy and demeaning words/acts, and I am well aware, sadly, of sexual assaults by school/university personal on a student. But, now I think I need to focus more attention, sadly, on physical trauma within schools. It is not between students; it is not bullying student-to-student; those are bad enough. It is teachers/aides/guards assaulting students and causing harm —physical and psychological. All I can say is that creating trauma responsive schools is critical and stopping trauma on students by adults in schools must stop. No question about that. We need schools to be places that foster truth and trust. We need both. When assaults on students occur by professionals within schools, trust is destroyed. Truth is, one hopes, still thriving if victims come forward and are believed. …see more
Delighted to report that my new bilingual children’s book, We See You; Te Vemos, was recommended by @americathebilingual at their website and on their Facebook page: https://lnkd.in/eqyjR39 . Bilingual books serve many purposes: furthering language learning in two directions; showing respect for another culture; and easing the ability of families to read to and with their children. The book has wonderful tips for adult readers in English and Spanish. Book can still be purchased for the holidays at: www.northshire.com . This book makes for a gift that keeps on giving. …see more

To create value for your business you need to think strategically about sources and uses of data and understand how data is turned into action. Let’s review.
Can Uber survive? It may seem a crazy to even think that a company of this size and with this much funding could even be remotely in danger. But history teaches us that no company is too big to fail the tide truly turns against them. Interesting times indeed. …see more

This is a great read and helpful guide to inclusive language and leadership behavior. “The ability of leaders to respectfully address multiple points of view (even if they may not agree) builds trust by indicating that they value and consider more than one perspective in the way they approach business decisions. Employees, in turn, feel their experiences and perspectives are heard and valued and are more likely to respect and value those of their peers and colleagues.” …see more
If you voted by mail, you can Google "check ballot status." Google is doing a pretty good job of surfacing the correct local links to this query. There is no central voter database, so I put the links for every state I could find here.

open season on bank CEOs it seems. be that as it may, if top bank executives are not exposed to criminal liability when it comes to money laundering, then history will repeat itself.
Yesterday, I got to speak with Botkeeper Founder and CEO (and my boss!) Enrico Palmerino about entrepreneurship and the road to Botkeeper. He said that "the nice thing about not being an accountant is that I didn't have a preconceived notion of how things should be done. I went into it with a clean slate and with an obsession for trying to do as little manual bookkeeping as possible." Listen to the recording below for the insider's view of starting and growing a successful company, and raising capital virtually during a pandemic! https://lnkd.in/ewEuHVJ #accounting #accountants #CPAs #CPAfirm #RadicalCPA #CPALove #accountantlove #accountingtech #botkeeping #botkeeperfordummies …see more
Boy, does Dara Khosrowshahi have his work cut out for him. Uber 's old culture (hopefully changing now) manifests itself yet again in spectacular fashion. Instead of disclosing the breach as is legally required, now ousted execs just paid off the hackers to keep it under wraps. …see more
Just an oddity on this post-Thanksgiving Friday. There are sales galore. Now focus on this: The US government was recently “selling” a fake US university in Detroit to foreign students. And it “looked” real enough that students enrolled and paid thousands. Who knows where the money went. Now, the fake government was a success in trapping some of the student visa fraud. This fake university success occurs as real universities/colleges are failing — and they are desperately trying to get students, domestic or foreign. Is anyone seeing irony here? The fake university enrolls students with ease while the real school admissions officers are struggling? Two thoughts: maybe government is onto a legal way to get new students and isn’t what US did entrapment? One more thought: is setting up a fake university the best use of government talent and resources? If these gov. folks are so talented, why not have them work on real education at real educational institutions in need? What a waste of talent and dollars on so many levels. # #colleges #educationreform …see more
