In late 2019, I started working with Global Press Journal reporter Noella Nbihogo on her story about the #indigenous Pygmy people living on Idjwi Island, located in Lake Kivu near the Democratic Republic of Congo. Noella's story highlighted the discrimination and gross inequity that Pygmies endured. In late 2020, through my role as a communications consultant with the Emerson Collective , I have the privilege of supporting Dr. Jacques Sebisaho, MD, MPA , who was born on Idjwi Island and who established the Amani Global Works network of health care facilities that was originally created to address the healthcare access challenges for the Pygmy people. By helping Jacques strengthen his brand and amplify his mission of #healthequity , I have come full circle as an #AfricanAmerican journalist who keeps #Africa at the center of my heart. Let Jacques himself tell you more about his project, in this presentation at The Aspen Institute 's 2014 Ideas Health festival. #globalhealth #globaldevelopment #DialFellows #EmersonCollective #HealthForAll #indigenouspeoples #indigenoushealth #healthcareaccess
